I first picked up a guitar when I was 15, and have been writing songs ever since. Pretty much all of them have had just some combination of guitar, bass, and drums, but one of the most exciting things for me about “And Ever After” is it’s the first time I’ve ever included piano in a song.
I took lessons for a little while with a crappy Casio keyboard when I was in third or fourth grade, but never really stuck with it. Once I’d learned and understood guitar, though, I started to find ways to translate that back to the piano—pretty slowly for a while, but then my family and I got this guy in 2019.
This is the piano I worked the parts out on for “And Ever After,” and where I’ve started working on countless other ideas since then. I’ve had a blast exploring the new vibes and textures it can bring to a song, and am especially happy with what it brought to “And Ever After.”
Can’t wait to share it with you!
