Today’s the day! “And Ever After” is OUT NOW!
I couldn’t be more excited to share this song with you. To be honest, 2023 was the worst year my wife and I have had in a really long time. Injuries, health scares, surgeries, and professional challenges overtook our morale and it felt like we were just limping into 2024.
The day after Christmas, we were sitting on the couch, hosting aloofly for our extended family. We talked about how awful the year was but also listed the many things we were looking forward to in 2024, one of them being the release of this song.
As if on cue, my 9-year-old daughter wandered over with her brand new glitter tattoo kit and elatedly offered us some “ink.”
There were a lot of designs to choose from, and although the unicorn eating an ice cream cone under a rainbow did look pretty sweet, I went with an electric guitar.
“What color?” She asked.
“Green, like my Ibanez.” (My favorite one since high school.)
Here I am posing with her excellent work.
My wife was next. She hadn’t seen what I chose, but I couldn’t help smiling when I saw she picked music notes in classic sparkly black.
Music has always brought us closer together, has always given us hope, and has always helped us heal. As we picked tattoos that we’d have for the rest of our lives until they washed off, we chose to enter the year fueled by Our Songs.
“Your hand in mine
we’re more than fine
remembering a simpler time
We’re high above our problems
though our hair is turning gray
We’ll fall apart together slowly to the music
and I’ll always sing
along with you until the day we die
and ever after”
